My Refinery29 Style Feature: Outfit Details and Behind-The-Scenes Photos

With 2012 in full swing, I had to take time to reflect on one of the best moments in 2011, both personally and for ChiTown Fashionista.

When my Refinery29 feature posted in November, I immediately took to Twitter and Facebook proclaiming my feelings of both gratitude and honor.  Throughout the year, I had received a few mentions on the website but this was my first independent feature. AND it involved a photo shoot!

The experience was amazing and certainly unforgettable. Pulling together looks for the photo shoot was a bit nerve wracking. Knowing that the photos would be on Refinery29 (you know, the best online source for the latest style, shopping and fashion trends) meant that I had to properly represent ChiTown Fashionista and ensure that I did not disappoint my readers. But once the outfits were squared away, it was time for the fun part!

Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos just to give you a sneak peek into how the day went...

faux fur scarf - ASOS (similar here) | shirt - JC Penney | skirt - Marshalls | belt - J. Crew | bag - m0851

sweater - ASOS | skirt - Talbots | shoes - TJ Maxx | handbag - Juicy Couture | earrings - DRAPES by Ashley Scott
sunglasses - Labrabbit Optics

blouse - ASOS | skirt - NY&Co | shoes - Marni | necklace - Jessie Adore

fur wrap - TJ Maxx | blazer - ASOS | shirt - Target | button covers - vintage (from my mom) | skinny jeans - Torrid
shoes - Free Press | briefcase - Hester van Eeghen (from Randolph Market) | eyeglasses - Labrabbit Optics

Sidenote: Afterwards, it dawned on me that every outfit had at least one item from ASOS. Clearly, I have somewhat of an obsession with them.

Click HERE to check out the entire feature on Refinery29, where you'll find out a little bit more about me including details about my day job and what type of music you can find on my iPod. Also, see if you can determine which outfit didn't make the final cut.

Thanks to Refinery29 Chicago editor Shani Silver for the opportunity, Devin Mays for the amazing photos, and Maya-Camille Broussard for her creative input.

Most of all thanks to YOU, my readers, for being so supportive and helping to make 2011 the best year yet for ChiTown Fashionista! I look forward to an even better 2012..and possibly more outfit posts.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

*special thanks to hubby for the behind-the-scenes photos

I read your R29 feature back in November. Thanks for the behind the scenes. Your shoe game is on point. And, yes, I am also an ASOS stan.
