The Uniform Project Update - January 2010

I've been following Sheena Matheiken's Uniform Project since July 2009. The last time I posted an update (which was in September), Sheena had raised a little over $12,000 in her effort to support the Akanksha Foundation which focuses on the education of underprivileged children in India. As of the time that I'm writing this post, the amount has now increased to $52,000! That means 144 underprivileged children have been placed in school. How incredible is that?! She still has 5 months left in this year-long journey and I'm so curious to see how much money she raises at the end of it all.

Now, if this project doesn't inspire you to either a) become more philanthropic or b) become more resourceful with what already exists in your closet, nothing else will.

As usual, I had to showcase some of my favorite looks over the past few months. Visit theuniformproject.com to get more details about the Uniform Project and/or donate (cash, clothing or accessories) to the cause. Being charitable is SO fashionable...wouldn't you agree?

Hi there, This is Jessica from The Uniform Project.
Thank you so much for your updates on the project! We are constantly amazed and inspired by everyone's support and creativity (donations, ideas, stories etc) lent to our project. We really couldn't do it without you guys. And by the by, we are looking for stylish folk to wear our little black dress next year: http://www.theuniformproject.com/home/subscribe.html Cheers from the U.P!
