Shoe Swoon: The (Unknown) ASOS Shoe

This "shoe swoon" post has nothing more than a picture to reference. When I saw this shoe on the header of the Women>Shoe page on ASOS.com, I started searching all over the site to see who made it and was it available in my size. The cost was the furthest thing from my mind. Simply put...I WANTED IT! Much to my dismay, the shoe was nowhere to be found.

Just to demonstrate my sometimes outrageous obsessions with things, I must inform you that I immediately submitted a request form to ASOS's customer service (which is fabulous and oh-so responsive) to find out how to get my hands on this new love of my life shoe. Unfortunately, the response was that they were unaware of the brand. But there's hope, my friends. They also stated that the shoe should be available on the site next week. Needless to say, I'll be stalking ASOS every day next week. So what do you think? Is this shoe worth all of the effort I'm already putting into it? [in case you're wondering, that's a rhetorical question]

I'll update this blog if there are any further updates on my quest.

So, tell me...What's your current obsession?

**UPDATE**
(2/15/10): The shoe is now up for sale at ASOS! It's the Alpha Suede Patchwork Boot and is available for a price of approx. $215. This is a tad bit higher than what I was expecting to pay. Now, don't get me wrong, I've spent more than that on shoes before. However, they are usually more practical in nature. I'm not so sure I'd get enough wear out of these to justify the current price tag. I will be keeping my eyes on this one in hopes that the price will dip under $200. Then, with a coupon code (which you can always find online at any given time), it'll be even more affordable.

Now, on to the next obsession....

Etsy Showcase: It's A Stitch

It recently dawned on me that I haven't posted an Etsy Showcase entry in a loooong time! This is mainly due to the fact that the amount of time I have to peruse Etsy has been limited. As we all know, Etsy has so many sellers and it can sometimes be overwhelming.

Since my last visit to London - where I bought a brass headphones/cassette tape necklace - I've been obsessing over brass jewelry. Luckily, on my last Etsy visit, I stumbled upon the It's A Stitch Etsy Shop and immediately fell in love. This shop offers brass and gold-plated jewelry with a unique twist. With vintage-inspired earrings (like the ones shown above) as well as necklaces including anything from cupid's arrow to ballerina shoes, It's A Stitch has something for everyone. Since I'm also a fan of layering necklaces, the fact that most items are priced under $30 means I can shop 'til my heart's content!

Below are some of my favorites. There's even a Headphones Tote I've got my eye on...clearly, you can tell I love music just as much as fashion. Click here to visit the It's A Stitch Etsy Shop and check out all of the fabulous items they have to offer.

Happy shopping, kiddies!

Jacket Swoon - ASOS Stripe Ponti Long Line Blazer

This blazer is perfection! I can already see myself wearing it with dark rinse skinny jeans and my bright red handbag. Sure, it's in line with the nautical trend for Spring but I can see this blazer working for years to come.

Click here for more details (when you see the striped pattern on the back of the blazer, you may fall out of your seat) and be sure to view it on the catwalk. I guarantee you'll fall in love once you see it come down that runway! That's what really sealed the deal for me. If you're in love with this blazer as much as I am, let me know how you'd rock it.

The Uniform Project Update - January 2010

I've been following Sheena Matheiken's Uniform Project since July 2009. The last time I posted an update (which was in September), Sheena had raised a little over $12,000 in her effort to support the Akanksha Foundation which focuses on the education of underprivileged children in India. As of the time that I'm writing this post, the amount has now increased to $52,000! That means 144 underprivileged children have been placed in school. How incredible is that?! She still has 5 months left in this year-long journey and I'm so curious to see how much money she raises at the end of it all.

Now, if this project doesn't inspire you to either a) become more philanthropic or b) become more resourceful with what already exists in your closet, nothing else will.

As usual, I had to showcase some of my favorite looks over the past few months. Visit theuniformproject.com to get more details about the Uniform Project and/or donate (cash, clothing or accessories) to the cause. Being charitable is SO fashionable...wouldn't you agree?

Handbag Swoon - Dooney & Bourke Champtote

Every once in awhile, Dooney & Bourke designs a handbag that catches my attention. The new Small Champtote is my latest Dooney infatuation. The contrasting tan leather handles and side trim plus the iconic duck emblem that is revamped in brown and black tortoise shell really speaks to me. As I normally put it, this bag is TALKING!

And of course we all know that the quality of leather used in Dooney handbags is one that lasts a lifetime. Therefore, the $195 price tag is completely justified, in my opinion.

The Champtote is available in 11 colors. Below are my personal favorites. Click here to check out the others and let me know which colors are talking to YOU the most.

When Friends Inspire...

What better way to start off the New Year than with one of my good friends/sister-n-law, Dee-Dee!!

I was immediately drawn to the colorful print in the dress, which is OH so lovely. However, I'm also in love with the style and shape of the dress. The mock wrap coupled with the empire waist is extremely flattering. Add the earrings and clutch handbag and you have just enough pop (of color) without clashing with the print in the dress.

I really do enjoy having fashionable friends! Isn't she fab?!?!

Dress - I.N.C. (Macy's)
Boots - Jessica London
Purse - Lane Bryant
Earrings - D'Monique (Dee-Dee's jewelry line)
